REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES PRODUCED IN CALENDAR YEAR 2009. 
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY SUBMISSION IS 5 FEBRUARY 2010. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE 
SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY AND WITH REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION VIA 
NAVY VISUAL NEWS SERVICE'S MEDIA LIGHTHOUSE. 
2. THE CHINFO MERIT AWARDS RECOGNIZE EXCELLENCE IN NAVY INTERNAL PRINT 
AND BROADCAST MEDIA PRODUCTS BY NAVY COMMANDS AND INDIVIDUALS.

3. BROADCAST MEDIA CATEGORIES INCLUDE:

C. TELEVISION INFORMATION PROGRAM
D. TELEVISION REPORT
E. SITE TELEVISION NEWSCAST, AND OTHERS.
4. THIS YEAR'S COMPETITION INTRODUCES A NEW PRINT CATEGORY, OFFICIAL 
SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE, DESCRIBED AS AN INTERNET OR INTRANET SOCIAL 
MEDIA PRESENCE, HOSTED ON ANY SOCIAL MEDIA SITE USED TO INSPIRE ONLINE 
DISCUSSION AMONGST AUDIENCES ENABLING ACTIVE, PARTICIPANT ROLES AS 
PRODUCERS, AGGREGATORS AND DISTRIBUTORS OF CONTENT. SOCIAL MEDIA 
PRESENCES TO BE JUDGED MUST CONFORM TO DOD AND DON INTERNAL 
INFORMATION, SECURITY REVIEW, WEB INSTRUCTIONS AND REGULATIONS AND BE 
SUBMITTED TO THE SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE/SITES TO THE NAVY'S OFFICIAL 
SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTORY FOUND AT WWW.NAVY.MIL.   
5. FIRST PLACE WINNERS IN SELECTED PRINT CATEGORIES AND BROADCAST 
CATEGORIES WILL REPRESENT THE NAVY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE THOMAS 
JEFFERSON AWARDS AT THE DEFENSE INFORMATION SCHOOL, FT MEADE, MD.
6. PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROGRAM IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED FOR MASS 
COMMUNICATION SPECIALISTS, PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROFESSIONALS AND ANY OTHER 
NAVY MILITARY AND CIVILIAN PERSONNEL WHO PRODUCED COMPETITIVE 
COMMUNICATION PRODUCTS. EFFORTS IN TELLING THE NAVY STORY OVER THE PAST 
YEAR WERE EXCEPTIONAL, AND THESE INDIVIDUALS DESERVE RECOGNITION FOR 
THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
