GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THE FIRST ANNUAL NAVY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISOR
(EOA) AND DIVERSITY TRAINING SYMPOSIUM "HOSTED BY THE CHIEF OF NAVAL
PERSONNEL WILL BE HELD 6-9 JUN 06 AT THE DEFENSE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (DEOMI) LOCATED ON PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE IN
COCOA BEACH, FL.  THIS YEAR'S THEME IS INFORMATION, INTEGRITY, AND
INFLUENCE.  THE SYMPOSIUM DIRECTLY SUPPORTS NAVY DIVERSITY EFFORTS
AND HAS THE FULL BACKING OF NAVY LEADERSHIP.  MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION
BY NAVY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISORS, COMMAND MANAGED EQUAL
OPPORTUNITY ADVISORS (CMEOS), AND ANY OTHER COMMAND LEVEL LEADERSHIP
IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
2.  THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THE SYMPOSIUM IS TO CONDUCT PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR COMMAND LEVEL EOAS, CMEOS, AND OTHER
LEADERSHIP.  TENTATIVE AGENDA ITEMS WILL INCLUDE SPEAKING
APPEARANCES BY SENIOR LEADERSHIP, DIVERSITY AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS, AND EXPERIENCED TRAINING PROFESSIONALS.
TRAINING WILL FOCUS ON CURRENT AND UPDATED POLICIES, AND SUPPORTING
CNO GUIDANCE FOR DEVELOPING TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY LEADERS AND
SUPPORTING NAVY DIVERSITY EFFORTS.
3.  COMMANDING OFFICERS ARE AUTHORIZED AND ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT
ATTENDANCE BY SENDING AT LEAST ONE COMMAND REPRESENTATIVE UTILIZING
AVAILABLE TAD FUNDS.  IF UNIT FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, PERMISSIVE
TAD ORDERS MAY BE ISSUED.  USE OF AVAILABLE GOVERNMENT
TRANSPORTATION IS ENCOURAGED WHEN POSSIBLE TO HELP DEFRAY COSTS.
4.  EARLY REGISTRATION IS RECOMMENDED IN ORDER TO ENSURE A HIGHLY
SUCCESSFUL SYMPOSIUM.  THERE WILL ONLY BE LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES TO
REGISTER ON SITE.
5.  PARTICIPANTS WILL BE BILLETED ON BASE AT THE SEA COAST INN TO
THE EXTENT THAT LODGING FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE.  CONVENIENTLY
LOCATED HOTELS WILL BE IDENTIFIED ON THE WEBSITE AS WELL.  IN
EITHER CASE, PARTICIPANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING THEIR OWN
LODGING ARRANGEMENTS.  AGENDA, REGISTRATION, AND SYMPOSIUM
