RMKS/1.  I am pleased to announce the selection of LN1(IW) Jean M.
Yusten as the 2017 Navy Shore Sailor of the Year.

2.  Petty Officer Yusten was the U.S. Naval Forces Europe/Africa Sailor of 
the Year and was selected from a field of five outstanding finalists 
representing the finest Petty Officers serving ashore.  Congratulations to 
her and the other finalists:
    a.  CTR1(IW/SW/SG/EXW) Jared D. Mollette, representing Naval Shore 
Activities
    b.  EM1(SW) Avanese P. Taylor, representing Manpower, Personnel, Training 
and Education
    c.  AT1(AW/SW) Shelldon L. Hunter, representing U.S. Fleet Forces Command
    d.  CM1(SCW) Cole K. Tankersley, representing U.S. Pacific Fleet

3.  The competition was robust and reflected the highest caliber of Sailors 
serving ashore throughout the world.  Each of the finalists represented their 
commands and the entire enlisted community with distinction.

4.  Petty Officer Yusten will be meritoriously advanced to Chief Petty 
Officer in May 2018.
