RMKS/1.  THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES THE 23RD ANNUAL SEA SERVICE LEADERSHIP 
ASSOCIATION (SSLA) WOMEN'S SYMPOSIUM WHICH WILL BE HELD ON 2-3 JUNE 2010 AT 
THE WASHINGTON HILTON IN WASHINGTON DC.  THIS YEAR'S THEME IS "LEADING FROM 
THE FRONT AND INTO THE FUTURE."

2.  THE PURPOSE OF THE ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM IS TO FOSTER EDUCATION AND CAREER 
DEVELOPMENT, AND TO PROVIDE NETWORKING AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE 
ACTIVE, RESERVE, AND CIVILIAN MEMBERS OF THE SEA SERVICES.  EVENT TOPICS 
INCLUDE:  GLOBAL FORCE FOR GOOD - WOMEN IN HUMANITARIAN/DISASTER RELIEF 
OPERATIONS; ETHICS IN PRACTICE; CRITICAL WOMEN'S HEALTH ISSUES; AND WORK/LIFE 
BALANCE DISCUSSIONS.  KEYNOTE SPEAKERS INCLUDE ADMIRAL GARY ROUGHEAD, CHIEF OF 
NAVAL OPERATIONS; REAR ADMIRAL (RET) MARSHA EVANS, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE RED 
CROSS; DR. SUSAN BLUMENTHAL, FORMER DEPUTY ASST SECRETARY OF HEALTH FOR 
WOMEN'S HEALTH; AND BEST SELLING AUTHOR AND MOTIVIATIONAL SPEAKER, PEGINE 
ESCHEVARRIA.
ADDITIONALLY, COMMUNITIES WILL HOST INDIVIDUAL BREAKOUT SESSIONS ON THE 
AFTERNOON OF 3 JUNE 2010 TO ADDRESS UNIQUE ISSUES AND ACTIVITIES WITHIN THEIR 
SPECIFIC FIELD.

3.  WHILE ATTENDANCE IS GEARED TOWARDS ACTIVE DUTY AND RESERVE SERVICE WOMEN, 
RETIREES AND CIVILIAN PERSONNEL ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.  COMMANDING OFFICERS 
ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT MAXIMUM ATTENDANCE TO FURTHER PROFESSIONAL 
DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONNEL.  TO ENCOURAGE MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION, SSLA IS WAIVING 
REGISTRATION FEES FOR THE FIRST 50 JUNIOR ENLISTED (E1-E6) TO REGISTER FOR THE 
SYMPOSIUM.  ISSUANCE OF TAD ORDERS, TO INCLUDE REGISTRATION, TRANSPORTATION, 
LODGING AND PER DIEM IS AUTHORIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH REF A.

4.  IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE MOST COST-EFFECTIVE TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE, 
AGGREGATION OF SYMPOSIUM TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS IS ENCOURAGED.  USE OF 
NAVY OPERATIONAL SUPPORT AIRLIFT (OSA) AND NAVY UNIQUE FLEET ESSENTIAL 
AIRCRAFT (NUFEA) MAY BE REQUESTED, IAW REF B.

5.  PER REF C, SELECTED RESERVE PERSONNEL ARE AUTHORIZED TO PARTICIPATE AT THE 
SSLA WOMEN'S SYMPOSIUM IN A PAID DRILL STATUS.
