RMKS/1. This NAVADMIN announces the Sea Service Leadership Association's
(SSLA) 27th Annual Joint Women's Leadership Symposium (JWLS) which will be
held 12-13 June 2014 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel in Norfolk,
Virginia. This year's theme is "Why Do You Serve?"

2. SSLA is an organization that focuses on the mentorship and professional
development of women in the seafaring services. The 2014 JWLS provides an
opportunity to engage with the world's largest gathering of service women
from Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, providing a unique
venue that allows dialogue and direct fleet feedback. Recipients of the
Captain Joy Bright Hancock (officer) and Master Chief Anna Der-Vartanian
(enlisted) Navy leadership awards will be recognized during the symposium
awards luncheon on 12 June 2014.

3. Per refs (a) through (c), Navy-funded participation for this conference
has been approved within a limited scope. Navy will sponsor 382 service
members by funding their registrations to the conference. Uniform for Navy
personnel will be service khaki for E7 and above and service uniform for E6
and below. All Navy-funded registrations will be coordinated through the
Navy Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Women's Policy. To obtain a
conference registration reservation, contact OSC Jessica Myers, at (703) 604-
5482 or via e-mail at jessica.myers@navy.mil.

4. Commands shall not fund registrations. Commands are not authorized to
expend travel funds, including lodging, transportation, and meals and
incidental expenses. Travel funding for those who are attending in an
official capacity has already been coordinated and approved; all other travel
is not authorized. Lunch will be provided on 12 June 2014 for those
attending. All other meals will be purchased by the attendee.

5. More information can be found on the SSLA website at
www.sealeader.org/leadership-symposium-summary/.
