OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIRD, FIFTH, AND SEVENTH FLEETS.
MAINTAINING A PERFECT AVIATION SAFETY RECORD, THE SHIP-DET TEAM
COMPLETED 902 FLIGHT HOURS, 40 PERCENT AT NIGHT DURING 211 DAYS OF
UNDERWAY OPERATIONS.  THE CHAFEE/HSL 37 TEAM FULLY EMBRACED OPERATIONAL
RISK MANAGEMENT, INTEGRATING SAFETY PREPAREDNESS INTO EVERY AVIATION
EVOLUTION.  THEY SHARED THEIR KNOWLEDGE WITH THE FLEET THROUGH
SUBMISSION OF MULTIPLE TECHNICAL PUBLICATION CHANGE RECOMMENDATIONS,
SAFETY ARTICLES, AND IDEAS FOR SAFETY POSTERS.
3.  USS PONCE MAINTAINED AN OUTSTANDING AVIATION SAFETY RECORD WHILE
CONDUCTING MORE THAN 800 MISHAP-FREE FLIGHT HOURS DURING DEPLOYMENT TO
THE ARABIAN GULF IN SUPPORT OF THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM.  THE PONCE
TEAM COMPLETED A WIDE RANGE OF OPERATIONS AS THE AFLOAT FORWARD STAGING
BASE IN THE NORTHERN ARABIAN GULF.
