RMKS/1.  THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF THE MASTER 
HOMELAND SECURITY SPECIALIST APPRENTICESHIP TRADE, AN APPRENTICESHIP FOR 
SAILORS CREATED BY THE CENTER FOR SECURITY FORCES AND RECENTLY APPROVED BY THE 
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
(DOL) AS A NEW APPRENTICESHIP TRADE.

2.  THE MASTER HOMELAND SECURITY SPECIALIST APPRENTICESHIP TRADE BUILDS ON THE 
SECURITY SPECIALIST APPRENTICESHIP AND FOCUSES ON MANAGEMENT IN THE FOLLOWING 
SECURITY AREAS:  ANTITERRORISM, ASSETS AND PERSONNEL PROTECTION, PHYSICAL 
SECURITY, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, AND CONTINUITY OF OPERATIONS.  IN ACCORDANCE 
WITH REF A, SAILORS WHO COMPLETE THE TRADE WILL EARN CERTIFICATION AS A 
JOURNEY WORKER IN THE TRADE.

3.  THE UNITED SERVICE MILITARY APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (USMAP) PROVIDES 
REGISTERED CERTIFICATION AND RECOGNITION OF TRAINING IN OVER 120 OCCUPATIONAL 
TRADES.
PARTICIPATION IS MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL TO SAILORS AND PRIVATE INDUSTRY BY 
ENHANCING SAILOR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND PROVIDING DOL CERTIFIED SKILL 
WORKERS TO MEET CIVILIAN WORK FORCE REQUIREMENTS.  THEREFORE, SAILORS 
INVOLVEMENT IN THIS WORTHWHILE PROGRAM IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.  ENROLLMENT
