RMKS/1. The Robert T. Mason Award for Depot Maintenance Excellence is the
premier award for depot-level programs in the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF)
Maintenance Awards Program. This award is named in recognition of Robert T.
Mason, the former Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Maintenance
Policy, Programs, and Resources. Mr. Mason served as the champion of organic
depot maintenance for three decades, while helping to transform organic
depot-level maintenance operations.

2. This award is presented annually to the most outstanding depot-level
maintenance program, product line or project, which has exemplified
responsive, innovative, and transformational support to the Department of
Defense (DoD).

3. Per ref (a), all major organic depot maintenance activities are eligible
to nominate a program, workload, team, or product line within their
operations to compete for this award. The 2015 SECDEF Depot Maintenance
Excellence Award competitive period covers FY14.

4. Echelon II commanders shall review and screen nominations from their
respective command and may submit one nomination package to OPNAV (N4) from
each major organic depot-level facility. OPNAV (N4) will evaluate these
nominations and forward selected Navy nominations to the SECDEF for award
consideration.

5. Each nomination package shall be submitted in .pdf format on a CD and
include a separate high resolution image file of their unit logo (minimum of
300 DPI JPG file). Please pay special attention to the requirements outlined
in ref (a) with regards to the ten (10) page limitation for the nomination
packages and the four weighted evaluation factors for depot-level units.
Additionally, it*s imperative Navy packages highlight accomplishments
exceeding an established baseline above the normal. Follow-on messages will
announce Navy nominees and the SECDEF Robert T. Mason Award winner.

6. Nomination packages shall be submitted IAW references (a) and (b) to Mr.
Dan Schrader and post marked no later than 13 March 2015 to the following
