FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHAPLAIN CORPS OFFICERS AND
RELIGIOUS PROGRAM SPECIALISTS (RPS). THE CHIEF OF CHAPLAINS CONDUCTS
ANNUAL SHORT-COURSE TRAINING FOR CHAPLAIN CORPS OFFICERS AND RPS TO
UPDATE ESSENTIAL TECHNIQUES AND PRACTICES IN MILITARY MINISTRY. THIS
TRAINING ENABLES CHAPLAINS TO OBTAIN CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN FAITH-GROUP CREDENTIALS.
2. THE FY-09 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING COURSE (PDTC), "COMBAT
OPERATIONAL STRESS CONTROL: THE FAMILY DYNAMIC" WILL PROVIDE TRAINING
TO CHAPLAINS, RPS, OTHER CAREGIVERS FROM NAVY MEDICINE, FLEET AND
FAMILY SUPPORT CENTERS (FFSC), MARINE CORPS COMMUNITY SERVICES (MCCS),
AND SENIOR SMALL UNIT LEADERS IN THE AREA OF PSYCHOLOGICAL RESILIENCE.
TOPICS INCLUDE PRE-DEPLOYMENT FAMILY AND SUPPORT SYSTEM READINESS,
"SUPPORTING THE SUPPORTERS" DURING DEPLOYMENT, AND THE SPECIAL NEEDS OF
BEREAVED FAMILIES AND THOSE WHO ASSIST INJURED SERVICE MEMBERS. IT
WILL IMPART THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR CAREGIVERS AND
LEADERS TO PROVIDE CROSS- FUNCTIONAL CARE.
3. FOR PERSONNEL FROM NAVY MEDICINE, FFSC AND MCCS. CLINICAL
CAREGIVERS WHO SUPPORT FAMILIES WITH DEPLOYMENT RELATED ISSUES ARE
HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME) UNITS
ARE ANTICIPATED FOR MEDICAL PERSONNEL AND CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL UNITS
(CEUS) ARE ANTICIPATED FOR CLINICAL LICENSED COUNSELORS.
