GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THE TWENTY-SIXTH ANNUAL ASSOCIATION OF NAVAL
SERVICES OFFICERS (ANSO) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING
SYMPOSIUM WILL BE HELD 4-8 APR 06 AT THE UNITED STATES MERCHANT
MARINE ACADEMY, IN GREAT NECK, NY.  THE SYMPOSIUM WILL
INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS, QUALITY
MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES, AND SENIOR SERVICE CHIEF LEADERSHIP
PRESENTATIONS - ALL OF WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO ENHANCE THE
PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF ATTENDEES WHILE INCREASING OVERALL
AWARENESS OF ISSUES AFFECTING THE SEA SERVICES.  THIS YEAR S THEME
IS "STRONG AND COLORFUL THREADS IN THE AMERICAN FABRIC."  THIS
SYMPOSIUM HAS THE SUPPORT OF NAVY LEADERSHIP AND MAXIMUM
PARTICIPATION IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
2.  ANSO'S PRIMARY GOALS ARE TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE SEA SERVICES IN
THE RECRUITMENT, MENTORING, CAREER DEVELOPMENT, AND RETENTION OF
HISPANIC OFFICERS.  THE ORGANIZATION CONTRIBUTES SIGNIFICANTLY TO
OPERATIONAL READINESS BY STRENGTHENING OVERALL DIVERSITY EFFORTS.
MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVE, AND RETIRED OFFICER AND
ENLISTED, AS WELL AS CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES OF THE NAVY, MARINE CORPS,
COAST GUARD, AND MERCHANT MARINE.  THE SYMPOSIUM IS OPEN TO ALL
PERSONNEL.
3.  COMMANDING OFFICERS ARE AUTHORIZED AND ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT
ATTENDANCE AND MAY UTILIZE AVAILABLE TAD FUNDS.  IF UNIT FUNDS ARE
NOT AVAILABLE, PERMISSIVE TAD ORDERS MAY BE ISSUED.  USE OF
AVAILABLE GOVERNMENT TRANSPORTATION IS ENCOURAGED TO ENHANCE
CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION AND TO HELP DEFRAY COSTS.
4.  CONFERENCE UNIFORM FOR NAVY PERSONNEL WILL BE SERVICE KHAKI AND
BANQUET UNIFORM WILL BE DINNER DRESS BLUE JACKET (OR OPTIONAL
SERVICE DRESS BLUE FOR 03 AND BELOW).  CIVILIAN ATTENDEES AND GUESTS
SHOULD WEAR BLACK TIE OR EQUIVALENT.
