RMKS/1. THE 2011 MILITARY CHESS SEASON IS APPROACHING. IF YOU ARE
INTERESTED IN COMPETING FOR A SPOT ON THE ALL-NAVY CHESS TEAM, MARK YOUR
CALENDAR FOR THE FOLLOWING EVENTS:
29 APR-1 MAY - ALL-NAVY CHESS QUALIFIER AT NAVAL AIR STATION
MERIDIAN
13-17 JUN - INTERSERVICE MILITARY CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS AT
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, CA
8-12 AUG, 22ND NATO CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP IN LITHUANIA
2. THE ALL-NAVY CHESS QUALIFIER WILL BE HELD 29 APR-1 MAY AT NAVAL AIR
STATION MERIDIAN. TWELVE OF THE TOP RATED NAVY CHESS TEAM APPLICANTS
WILL BE SELECTED TO COMPETE FOR A SPOT ON THE SIX-MEMBER ALL-NAVY CHESS
TEAM. THE ALL-NAVY CHESS TEAM WILL ADVANCE TO THE INTERSERVICE CHESS
TOURNAMENT.
3. THE INTERSERVICE CHESS TOURNAMENT WILL BE HELD 13-17 JUN AT MARINE
CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, CA. THE ALL-NAVY CHESS TEAM WILL COMPETE
WITH PLAYERS FROM THE OTHER MILITARY SERVICES FOR A SPOT ON THE SIX-
MEMBER INTERSERVICE CHESS TEAM. THE INTERSERVICE CHESS TEAM WILL
ADVANCE TO THE NATO CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
4. THE NATO CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BE HELD IN LITHUANIA, 8-12 AUG.
THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL MILITARY COMPETITION.
5. ACTIVE DUTY NAVY, COAST GUARD AND PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE PERSONNEL
INTERESTED IN COMPETING FOR A SPOT ON THE ALL-NAVY CHESS TEAM MUST
SUBMIT APPLICATION NLT 31 MAR. APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: MUST BE ON ACTIVE DUTY WITH THE NAVY, COAST
GUARD OR PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE; MUST BE A U.S CHESS FEDERATION MEMBER IN
GOOD STANDING; MUST HAVE A CURRENT, ESTABLISHED U.S CHESS FEDERATION
RATING; AND MUST OBTAIN COMMAND AUTHORIZATION TO COMPETE IN NAVY
QUALIFIER, INTERSERVICE AND NATO TOURNAMENTS IF SELECTED TO ADVANCE TO
EACH LEVEL OF COMPETITION.

PERSONNEL SELECTED WILL TRAVEL ON INVITATIONAL TRAVEL ORDERS ISSUED AND
COORDINATED BY CNIC N923.
