RMKS/1.  THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES APRIL AS SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH 
(SAAM).  THIS YEAR'S DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD) THEME IS "LIVE OUR VALUES:  
STEP UP TO STOP SEXUAL ASSAULT."  SAAM WILL SERVE TO EMPHASIZE OUR COMMAND 
AND INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT TO A CLIMATE WHICH ELEVATES OUR NAVY'S CORE 
VALUES, AS WELL AS CHARGE EACH SAILOR AND CIVILIAN PARTNER TO ACTIVELY 
PARTICIPATE IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT DOES NOT TOLERATE, CONDONE, OR IGNORE 
DESTRUCTIVE AND SEXIST BEHAVIORS.

2.  DODS FY-14 SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE (SAPR) THEME HAS BEEN 
USED TO ASSIST DEVELOPMENT OF THIS YEAR'S COMPLEMENTARY SUB-THEMES, ONE FOR 
EACH HALF OF SAAM:
    A.  WEEKS OF APRIL 1 - 13:  LIVE OUR VALUES.
    B.  WEEKS OF APRIL 14 - 30:  STEP UP TO STOP SEXUAL ASSAULT.

3.  TO FACILITATE DELIVERY OF SAAM MESSAGING AND EVENTS, TURN-KEY PRODUCTS 
AND RESOURCES ARE LOCATED ON THE NAVY PERSONNEL COMMAND (NPC) SAPR WEBSITE AT 
HTTP://WWW.SAPR.NAVY.MIL.  ALL COMMANDS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO UTILIZE 
TURN-KEY PRODUCTS ON THE SAPR WEBSITE FOR PLANNING UNIT ACTIVITIES AND 
EVENTS.  COMMANDERS ARE ALSO ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT UNIT PARTICIPATION IN 
LOCAL SAAM EVENTS WHICH MAY BE SPONSORED BY THE BASE OR AREA SEXUAL ASSAULT 
RESPONSE COORDINATOR (SARC).

4.  THE SAPR WEBSITE CONTAINS A COLLECTION OF MATERIALS, INCLUDING GUIDED 
DISCUSSION SCRIPTS, EVENT PLANNING MATERIALS, AND PLAN OF THE DAY/PLAN OF THE 
WEEK NOTES WHICH WILL AID COMMANDS IN EXECUTING SAAM ACTIVITIES.  THIS 
WEBSITE WILL BE UPDATED REGULARLY AND SHOULD BE CHECKED FREQUENTLY TO ENSURE 
YOUR COMMAND HAS VISIBILITY OF THE LATEST SAAM PRODUCTS.

5.  REDUCING THE THREAT OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE FROM WITHIN OUR RANKS CONTINUES TO 
BE AN ALL HANDS EFFORT - FOCUSED ON OUR COLLECTIVE EFFORT TO PROVIDE SAFE 
ENVIRONMENTS FOR OUR SAILORS AT ALL LEVELS.
THIS YEAR'S SAAM SHOULD BE USED TO UNDERSCORE NAVY'S COMMITMENT TO RESPONDING 
TO AND COMPASSIONATE SUPPORT OF VICTIMS, REINFORCING THE IMPORTANCE OF 
PREVENTION AND BYSTANDER INTERVENTION, AND OVERALL, CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT 
OF TRUE DIGNITY AND RESPECT FOR ALL OUR SHIPMATES.
