RMKS/1. THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS NINTH SEMI-ANNUAL FLEET
DIVERSITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, 28 APRIL 2009 IN SAN DIEGO,
CA. TWO IDENTICAL SESSIONS WILL BE OFFERED. THE FIRST SESSION WILL BE
HELD FROM 0800 TO 1130 AT THE BASE THEATER (BLDG 71 NAVBASE SAN DIEGO -
32ND ST) AND THE SECOND SESSION WILL BE HELD FROM 1300 TO 1630 AT THE
LOWRY THEATER (NAVAL BASE CORONADO).
2. THE PURPOSE OF THE FLEET DIVERSITY COUNCIL IS TO EDUCATE SAILORS,
OFFICERS, AND CIVILIANS ON THE VALUE OF DIVERSITY AND THE NAVY'S MANY
DIVERSITY INITIATIVES. THIS COUNCIL MEETING SPECIFICALLY TARGETS
PARTICIPATION FROM NAVAL BASE POINT LOMA, NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO, NAVAL
BASE CORONADO, AND NAVY MEDICAL CENTER BALBOA. COMMAND FUNDED TRAVEL
FROM OTHER AREAS IS AUTHORIZED AND ENCOURAGED.
3. COUNCIL ATTENDANCE IS OPEN FOR ALL INTERESTED PERSONNEL.
MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF THE SAN DIEGO BASE THEATER IS 758 AND 1580 FOR
LOWRY THEATER, SO THERE IS NO ATTENDANCE CUTOFF. YOUR ASSISTANCE IS
NEEDED IN IDENTIFYING VOLUNTEERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COUNCIL MEETING.
VOLUNTEERS ARE SOUGHT FROM ALL RANKS, RATES, GS LEVELS, AND BACKGROUNDS.
4. THIS COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE CONDUCTED IN TWO SEPARATE SESSIONS.
THE FORMAT OF BOTH SESSIONS WILL BE IDENTICAL WITH OPENING REMARKS
PROVIDED BY A FLAG OFFICER FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL KEY SPEAKERS
HIGHLIGHTING DIVERSITY AND ITS DYNAMIC ROLE IN THE NAVY AND IN OUR
EVERYDAY LIVES.
