RMKS/1.  THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES REMOVAL OF CAREER MANAGEMENT 
SYSTEM/INTERACTIVE DETAILING (CMS/ID) FROM SHIPBOARD NAVY 
INFORMATION APPLICATION PRODUCT SUITE (NIAPS).
2.  TWO YEARS OF RIGOROUS AT-SEA TESTING AND OBSERVATION ON BOARD 
NINE TEST SHIPS AND TWO AVIATION SQUADRONS REVEALED THE 
TIME-CRITICAL NATURE OF CMS/ID DATA EXCEEDS OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES 
CURRENTLY SUPPORTED BY NIAPS.  THE MAJORITY OF JOB APPLICATIONS FROM 
OPTEST PLATFORMS WERE SUBMITTED TO CMS/ID VIA INTERNET VICE NIAPS. 
AS A RESULT OF THESE FINDINGS, HOSTING CMS/ID ON NIAPS WILL BE 
DISCONTINUED. 
3.  CMS/ID REMAINS AN EFFECTIVE AND RELIABLE CAREER TOOL AFLOAT AND 
ASHORE.  ALL COMMANDS ARE ENCOURAGED TO USE CMS/ID ON THE INTERNET TO 
SUBMIT JOB APPLICATIONS AND COMMUNICATE ASSIGNMENT DESIRES.  LIKEWISE, 
COMMANDS SHOULD NOT HESITATE TO ENGAGE WELL-ESTABLISHED ALTERNATIVES, 
SUCH AS REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM TYCOM/ISIC COUNSELORS OR FROM 
DETAILERS, WHEN INTERNET ACCESS IS NOT AVAILABLE.
