RMKS/1. THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS ELEVENTH
SEMI-ANNUAL FLEET DIVERSITY COUNCIL TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY,
7 APR 2010 IN SAN DIEGO. TWO SESSIONS (BOTH WITH THE SAME AGENDA)
WILL BE OFFERED. THE FIRST SESSION WILL BE HELD FROM 0800 TO 1100 AT
THE NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (32ND ST) BASE THEATER (BLDG 71) AND THE
SECOND SESSION WILL BE HELD FROM 1300 TO 1600 AT NAVAL AIR STATION,
NORTH-ISLAND, LOWRY THEATER.
2. THE PURPOSE OF THE FLEET DIVERSITY COUNCIL IS TO EDUCATE SAILORS,
OFFICERS, AND CIVILIANS ON THE VALUE OF DIVERSITY AND THE NAVY'S
MULTIPLE DIVERSITY INITIATIVES. THE FORMAT OF BOTH SESSIONS WILL BE
IDENTICAL. OPENING REMARKS WILL BE PROVIDED BY A FLAG OFFICER FOLLOWED
BY THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER, DR. SAMUEL BETANCES, WHO WILL HIGHLIGHT
DIVERSITY AND ITS DYNAMIC ROLE IN THE NAVY.
3. COUNCIL ATTENDANCE IS OPEN FOR ALL INTERESTED PERSONNEL, FROM ALL
RANKS, RATES, GS LEVELS, AND BACKGROUNDS, AND SPECIFICALLY TARGETS
PARTICIPATION FROM NAVAL BASE POINT LOMA, NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO, NAVAL
BASE CORONADO, AND NAVY MEDICAL CENTER BALBOA. COMMAND FUNDED TRAVEL
FROM OTHER AREAS IS AUTHORIZED AND ENCOURAGED.
COMMAND MANAGED EQUAL OPPORTUNITY OFFICERS AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
ADVISORS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.
