RMKS/1. REF A ANNOUNCED THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS APPROVAL OF THE
ADOPTION OF THE NEW NAVY PHYSICAL TRAINING UNIFORM (PTU) FOR ALL
SAILORS E-1 THROUGH O-10. THE PTU IS DESIGNED PRIMARILY FOR GROUP/
UNIT PHYSICAL TRAINING (PT) ACTIVITIES AND THE SEMI-ANNUAL PHYSICAL
FITNESS TEST. THE PTU REQUIREMENT CONSISTS OF TWO GOLD SHIRTS WITH
REFLECTIVE NAVY LETTERING AND TWO NAVY BLUE SHORTS WITH NAVY LETTERING
AND REFLECTIVE MARKINGS. COMPLETE MANNER OF WEAR REQUIREMENTS WILL BE
RELEASED SOON IN A SEPARATE NAVADMIN AND INCLUDED IN THE NEXT UPDATE OF
THE NAVY UNIFORM REGULATIONS CD ROM.
2. THE NAVY-WIDE DISTRIBUTION OF THE PTU WILL OCCUR INCREMENTALLY OVER
A SIX-MONTH PERIOD. RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND WILL BEGIN ISSUING THE
PTU IN APRIL 2008. REGIONAL AVAILABILITY TO THE FLEET WILL BE VIA NAVY
EXCHANGE UNIFORM CENTERS IN THREE WAVE INCREMENTS.
WAVE ONE BEGINS MAY 2008 AND INCLUDES TIDEWATER, SOUTHWEST REGION, AND
NAVAL DISTRICT WASHINGTON. RECRUITERS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS WAVE, BUT
MUST USE THE CALL CENTER BY CALLING: 1-800-368-4088;
ITALY: 8008-872441; SPAIN: 900-99-1479; JAPAN: 00531-1-14026; OR,
ANYWHERE: 757-502-7450. WAVE TWO COMMENCES JUNE 2008 AND INCLUDES
HAWAII, EUROPE, JAPAN, GUAM, NORTHWEST, AND SOUTHEAST.
WAVE THREE COMMENCES AUGUST 2008 AND INCLUDES THE NORTHEAST AND GULF
REGIONS. RESERVE COMPONENTS WILL MIRROR ACTIVE FORCE ROLLOUT PLAN VIA
DEFENSE SUPPLY CENTER PHILADELPHIA, KENTUCKY LOCATION DISTRIBUTION FOR
E-6 AND BELOW, AND NAVY EXCHANGE UNIFORM CENTERS FOR E-7 AND ABOVE.
3. BETWEEN DECEMBER 2007 AND SEPTEMBER 2008 ACTIVE COMPONENT ENLISTED
SAILORS WILL RECEIVE AN INCREASE IN THEIR ANNUAL CLOTHING REPLACEMENT
ALLOWANCE. THIS INCREASE WILL FACILITATE PURCHASING A COMPLETE SET OF
PTU COMPONENTS BY 30 SEPTEMBER 2008. ENLISTED RESERVE COMPONENT
SAILORS WILL RECEIVE THE PTU VIA THEIR CHAIN OF COMMAND UPON SCHEDULED
AVAILABILITY. UPON COMPLETION OF THE PTU ROLLOUT, ALL COMMAND DIRECTED
GROUP/UNIT PHYSICAL TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND SEMI-ANNUAL PHYSICAL
FITNESS TESTS WILL BE PERFORMED IN THE PTU.

THE QUARTERLY BUPERS DIRECTIVE CD ROM CHANGE.
