2. THE ROBERT T MASON AWARD FOR DEPOT MAINTENANCE EXCELLENCE
RECOGNIZES THE MOST OUTSTANDING DEPOT-LEVEL MAINTENANCE PROGRAM,
WORKLOAD, OR PRODUCT LINE AT AN ORGANIC DEPOT-LEVEL MAINTENANCE
ACTIVITY. THE NAVY NOMINEES FOR THIS SECDEF COMPETITION ARE:
A. FLEET READINESS CENTER EAST (H-53 AIRCRAFT)
B. U.S. NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY AND JAPAN REGIONAL MAINTENANCE
CENTER, YOKOSUKA (DEPOT LEVEL REPAIR AND MODERNIZATION OF THE FORWARD
DEPLOYED NAVAL FORCES)
C. NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD (USS FLORIDA SUBMARINE ENGINEERED REFUELING
OVERHAUL AND CONVERSION)
D. NAVAL UNDERSEA WARFARE CENTER DIVISION, KEYPORT (INTEGRATED
UNDERSEA WARFARE)
3. SECDEF SELECTION BOARDS WILL EVALUATE SIMILAR INPUTS FROM ALL
SERVICES AND ANNOUNCE SIX FIELD LEVEL WINNERS (TWO PER CATEGORY), AND
ONE DEPOT WINNER. ALL MAINTENANCE AWARD RECIPIENTS WILL BE RECOGNIZED
AT A CEREMONY HELD ON 15 NOVEMBER 2007, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 2007
DOD MAINTENANCE SYMPOSIUM IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. THE AWARDS CEREMONY
WILL BE PRESIDED BY A SENIOR DEFENSE OFFICIAL WITH PARTICIPATION OF THE
SERVICE SECRETARIES AND CHIEFS. THE ULTIMATE PHOENIX AWARD WINNER WILL
BE SELECTED FROM AMONG THE SIX FIELD LEVEL MAINTENANCE AWARD RECIPIENTS
AND ANNOUNCED AT THE CEREMONY.
4. THE OUTSTANDING INITIATIVE, IMAGINATION, AND PROFESSIONALISM
DEMONSTRATED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE A REFLECTION OF NAVY-WIDE EFFORTS
TO MAINTAIN PEAK READINESS AND EFFICIENCY. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL
