RMKS/1.  THIS IS A QUARTERLY ANNOUNCEMENT INVITING ALL NAVY COMMANDS AND 
ORGANIZATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN NAVY'S TOP 50 EXTERNAL RECOGNITION EFFORTS.  
THESE OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL COMMANDS AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE 
TO A SINGLE NAVY-WIDE SUBMISSION OR REPRESENT THEMSELVES AS OUTSTANDING 
EMPLOYERS AND FLEXIBLE WORKPLACE ADVOCATES.  THE AWARDS LISTED ARE IN THE 
CATEGORIES OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS, WORKPLACE FINANCIAL LITERACY, AND WORKPLACE 
FLEXIBILITY.

2.  C. EVERETT KOOP NATIONAL HEALTH AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN HEALTH RISK AND 
COST REDUCTION.  THIS AWARD RECOGNIZES ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE ABLE TO DOCUMENT 
EFFECTIVENESS IN ACHIEVING HEALTH CARE RISK AND COST CONTAINMENT GOALS.  
PROGRAMS INCLUDE FITNESS, NUTRITION, SMOKING CESSATION, STRESS MANAGEMENT, 
WEIGHT CONTROL, MEDICAL SELF-CARE AND DISEASE MANAGEMENT.  THE APPLICATION 
SHOULD DEMONSTRATE THAT THE PROGRAM IS WELL INTEGRATED INTO THE ORGANIZATION, 
AND IT HAS YIELDED SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN POPULATION HEALTH AND NET 
FINANCIAL SAVINGS.  INDIVIDUAL COMMANDS/ORGANIZATIONS MAY APPLY DIRECTLY TO 
THE SPONSOR.  N1 COMMANDS MUST APPLY THROUGH N1Z.  THE APPLICATION CAN BE

3.  WORKPLACE LEADERS IN FINANCIAL EDUCATION AWARD.  SPONSORED BY THE AMERICAN 
INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA) AND THE SOCIETY FOR HUMAN 
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, THIS AWARD RECOGNIZES ORGANIZATIONS WITH EXEMPLARY 
WORKFORCE FINANCIAL LITERARY EFFORTS WHICH ENHANCE EMPLOYEE FINANCIAL WELL-
BEING.  THE NAVY WILL SUBMIT A NOMINATION FOR ITS ORGANIZATION-WIDE PERSONAL 
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM.  INDIVIDUAL COMMANDS ARE INVITED TO APPLY 
DIRECTLY TO THE SPONSOR IF THEY HAVE ORGANIZATION-UNIQUE PROGRAMS WHICH

4.  ALFRED P. SLOAN AWARD COMPETITION FOR BUSINESS EXCELLENCE IN WORKPLACE 
FLEXIBIITY.  THIS IS A HIGHLY VISIBLE AWARD BOTH INSIDE NAVY AND IN CORPORATE 
AMERICA.  TEN NAVY ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVED THIS RECOGNITION LAST YEAR - COMING
