GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and
Integration, and the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfighting
Requirements and Capabilities are pleased to announce the recipients of the
2024 Expeditionary Warfare Excellence Awards (EWEA). This award recognizes
the achievement of the Naval service's top performing Marines and Sailors
during calendar year 2023. Each category was highly competitive and
indicative of the nominee's exceptional leadership and selfless dedication to
mission accomplishment.
2. 2024 EWEA Winners:
2.a. The Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare Officer of the Year is Captain
Joshua Rothfeld, 7th Engineer Support Battalion.
2.b. The Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare Staff Non-commissioned Officer of
the Year is Gunnery Sergeant John Ritchie, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
2.c. The Navy Expeditionary Warfare Officer of the Year is Chief Warrant
Officer 3, Victoria Snyder, Amphibious Squadron 1.
2.d. The Navy Expeditionary Warfare Enlisted Sailor of the Year is Builder
First Class Nathan Carrasco, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4.
3. The award winners will be recognized at the Marine Corps Combat
Development Dinner, hosted by the Marine Corps Association, on 22 August 2024
at The Clubs at Quantico, 2017 Russell Road, Quantico, VA 22134. A no-host
reception will begin at 1800, with dinner and the ceremony beginning at 1900.
Evening wear is business or cocktail attire for civilian and military
attendees. Awardees and service members participating in the ceremony will
wear Service Alphas or equivalent.
4. Details regarding travel and the schedule of events for award winners will
be issued via separate correspondence.
5. Congratulations to those selected and all who were nominated. Your
performance in this vital area is noteworthy and has directly influenced the
Expeditionary Warfare Community.
