GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. THIS NAVADMIN SOLICITS APPLICATIONS FROM THE
FLEET AND PROVIDES SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE FY-07
OFFICER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. WHERE INFORMATION DIFFERS BETWEEN THIS
NAVADMIN AND REF (A), THIS NAVADMIN TAKES PRECEDENCE. APPLICATION
DEADLINE IS 1 SEP 06 FOR THE FY-07 SELECTION BOARD. SELECTION
RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED VIA NAVADMIN IN OCT 06.
2. UNDER THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, OFFICERS ENROLL IN A RESIDENT
GRADUATE SCHOOL ON A FULL-TIME BASIS, RECEIVE FULL PAY AND
ALLOWANCES, AND ARE ENTITLED TO PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION
REIMBURSEMENT. TUITION IS PAID BY A NON-NAVY-FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP
OBTAINED BY THE OFFICER. THE SCHOLARSHIP MUST BE EQUAL TO OR
GREATER THAN 50 PERCENT OF THE TUITION COST. OFFICERS MUST BE
AVAILABLE TO COMMENCE STUDIES PRIOR TO 30 SEP 07 AND COMPLETE THEIR
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS IN 24 MONTHS OR LESS.
3. PER REF A, AREAS OF STUDY ARE LIMITED BY SUBSPECIALTY AND
DESIGNATOR. ONLY DEGREES APPROVED BY THE OFFICER'S COMMUNITY WHICH
MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF AT LEAST ONE APPROVED NAVY SUBSPECIALTY
CODE AS VERIFIED BY NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL (NPS) ARE AUTHORIZED.
4. UP TO THREE CANDIDATES MAY BE SELECTED BASED ON PERFORMANCE
RECORD, NEEDS OF THE NAVY, PROMOTION POTENTIAL, ACADEMIC
QUALIFICATIONS, AND FIELD OF STUDY. ACTUAL ASSIGNMENT TO THE
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS CONTINGENT UPON ATTAINMENT OF A QUALIFYING
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD BY 31 MAY 07. OFFICERS PARTICIPATING IN A
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO TRANSFER TO A SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM OF ANOTHER INSTITUTION EVEN IF ACCEPTED.
5. OFFICERS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE PROGRAM MUST RECEIVE
APPROVAL TO COMPETE FROM THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER. OFFICERS
RECEIVING COMMAND APPROVAL SHALL SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS PER REF
A VIA THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER TO: COMMANDING OFFICER, NAVAL
EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY
CENTER (NETPDTC), ATTN: CODE N2A2, 6490 SAUFLEY FIELD ROAD,
PENSACOLA, FL 32509-5204.
6. IN ADDITION TO COMMANDING OFFICER APPROVAL AND A COMPLETED
APPLICATION LETTER, APPLICATION PACKAGES MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:
A. COLLEGE INFORMATION INCLUDING DESIRED ENROLLMENT DATE
(ENROLLMENT DATE SHOULD BE CONSISTENT WITH PLANNED ROTATION DATE),
PROPOSED GRADUATION DATE, DESIRED COLLEGE, DEGREE OBJECTIVES (MAJOR
FIELD OF STUDY INCLUDING COURSE CURRICULUM, CLASS TITLES, ASSIGNED
CREDIT HOURS, AND DESIRED SUBSPECIALTY CODE), OFFICIAL COLLEGE
TRANSCRIPTS FOR ALL COURSES COMPLETED, AND GRE/GMAT SCORE REPORT.
B. A WRITTEN/SIGNED STATEMENT FROM THE APPLICANTS DETAILER
MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE NOMINATION PACKAGE. SAMPLE STATEMENT IS
AS FOLLOWS: "I, (DETAILER RANK, NAME, TITLE), HAVE ADVISED
(APPLICANT RANK, NAME) OF THE IMPACT OF PROGRAM PARTICIPATION
ON THEIR CAREER. THIS PROGRAM WILL HAVE A POSITIVE/NEGATIVE
IMPACT ON MEMBERS CAREER."
7. SINCE SELECTION TO THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS CONTINGENT UPON
THE OFFICER'S ABILITY TO OBTAIN A SCHOLARSHIP, ALL POTENTIAL
SELECTEES SHOULD IMMEDIATELY BEGIN PURSUIT OF A SCHOLARSHIP. IN
THE EVENT PRIMARY CANDIDATES ARE UNABLE TO OBTAIN A QUALIFYING
SCHOLARSHIP, ALTERNATES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SELECTION.
8. OFFICERS COMPLETING A DEGREE UNDER THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM MUST
FORWARD AN OFFICIAL FINAL TRANSCRIPT WITH DEGREE CONFERRED TO
NETPDTC, ATTN: CODE N2A2.
