PROGRAM OFFERED THROUGH THE NAVY COLLEGE LEARNING CENTER (NCLC) AND ACADEMIC
SKILLS INSTRUCTOR LED PROGRAM (ASIP) TO THE ONLINE ACADEMIC SKILLS COURSE
(OASC), WHICH PROVIDES ACCESS TO BASIC EDUCATIONAL AND ACADEMIC SKILLS
REQUIRED PER REFS A AND B. NEITHER NCLC NOR ASIP WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER 30
SEPTEMBER
2010. THE NAVY COLLEGE PROGRAM FOR AFLOAT COLLEGE EDUCATION (NCPACE)
INSTRUCTOR-LED ACADEMIC SKILLS COURSES WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFIED
UNITS.
2. THE SELF-PACED OASC CUSTOMIZED LEARNING PROGRAM EVALUATES AN INDIVIDUAL'S
READING LEVEL, VOCABULARY, AND MATH ABILITY BASED UPON A PRE-TEST. USING THE
PRE-TEST RESULTS, OASC DESIGNS SPECIFIC LESSONS TAILORED TO INCREASE THE
INDIVIDUAL'S PROFICIENCY IN EACH OF THESE ACADEMIC AREAS. FOR SAILORS WHO
DESIRE AN ABBREVIATED ACADEMIC REVIEW, A SHORTENED SET OF LESSONS ARE ALSO
AVAILABLE.
UPON COMPLETION OF OASC, SAILORS REQUIRING JUSTIFICATION FOR ARMED SERVICES
VOCATIONAL APTITUDE BATTERY TEST RETEST SHOULD CONTACT THEIR CAREER COUNSELOR
OR NAVY COLLEGE OFFICE FOR ASSISTANCE, PER REF C.
3. OASC IS AVAILABLE NOW ON NAVY KNOWLEDGE ONLINE (NKO) VIA THE NKO LEARNING
TAB AND ON THE NAVY COLLEGE WEBSITE AT HTTPS://WWW.NAVYCOLLEGE.NAVY.MIL UNDER
NAVY COLLEGE PROGRAMS, ACADEMIC SKILLS LINK. NAVIGATION TO OASC IS ALSO
POSSIBLE AT HTTP://WWW.PETERSONS.COM/DANTES/. SAILORS CAN ACCESS THE COURSE
FROM ANY INTERNET-CONNECTED COMPUTER. IN ADDITION TO ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY
MEMBERS, OASC IS AVAILABLE AT NO COST FOR MEMBERS OF THE SELECTED RESERVES,
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CIVILIANS AND FAMILY MEMBERS.
