RMKS/1. This NAVADMIN announces Navy support for Officer, Enlisted, and
Civilian participation in the Association of Naval Services Officers' (ANSO)
Western Region Symposium (WRS). ANSO WRS will be held at the Marine Corps
Air Station Miramar, Officers Club, 4472 Anderson Avenue, San Diego, CA
92145, from 2 December to 6 December 2024. The symposium's theme is
*Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together. *ANSO is a non-federal
entity wholly independent of the Navy. More information about ANSO and the
event can be found at https://www.ansomil.org/.
2. Participation in affinity group outreach events such as this is highly
encouraged. These events provide attendees the opportunity to learn from
exceptional leaders at all levels, make connections, and develop mentoring
relationships. One need not be from a particular background to participate
in an affinity group outreach event. Diverse attendance is encouraged as a
way to broaden conversations and enhance learning.
3. Navy Culture and Force Resilience Office (OPNAV N17), through Advancing
Navy Culture Office (OPNAV N174), will sponsor participation in the symposium
for 100 local attendees (registration fee only) and 50 remote (temporary duty
(TDY) attendees' TDY and registration fee). TDY funding will be for 5 days,
for 2 December and 6 December 2024 as authorized travel days. Lodging
reimbursement is limited to the government rate and the traveler must utilize
the integrated lodging program as applicable. Commands may authorize rental
cars using unit funds, rental cars will not be centrally funded through OPNAV
N17.
4. Sailors and Civilians must go through their chain of command for
authorization to be considered for OPNAV N174 participation approval.
5. Requests to attend this event must be submitted no later than 13 November
2024 via email to n17affinitygroup.fct@navy.mil via the individual's
Officer-in-charge, and must include the following information: name, rank,
email, and duty station. Requests received after 13 November 2024 will not
be considered. Attendees must have a valid, active government travel charge
card in their possession and a Defense Travel System profile joined to their
respective unit.
6. Uniform of the day for this event is Service Khaki, Service Uniform, and
business casual for Civilians.
