RMKS/1. THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES THAT THE 2008 NAVY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
ADVISOR (EOA) AND DIVERSITY TRAINING SYMPOSIUM WILL BE HELD AT THE
HILTON MEMPHIS, MEMPHIS, TN FROM 22-26 SEPTEMBER 2008. THIS YEAR'S
THEME IS "ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE: PATHWAY TO A HEALTHIER COMMAND
CLIMATE." MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION BY NAVY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISORS
(EOAS), COMMAND MANAGED EQUAL OPPORTUNITY (CMEO) REPRESENTATIVES AND
COMMAND LEVEL LEADERSHIP IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
2. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THE SYMPOSIUM IS TO CONDUCT PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR COMMAND LEVEL EOAS, CMEOS AND OTHER LEADERSHIP.
THE TENTATIVE SCHEDULE INCLUDES BRIEFS BY SENIOR LEADERSHIP, DIVERSITY
AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS, AND EXPERIENCED TRAINING
PROFESSIONALS. TRAINING WILL FOCUS ON EFFECTIVE INTERPERSONAL
COMMUNICATIONS, CURRENT DIVERSITY STRATEGY, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICIES,
AND THE NAVY DIVERSITY CAMPAIGN PLAN.
3. COORDINATION AMONG ECHELON II, ECHELON III, AND REGIONAL COMMANDS
IS ENCOURAGED TO ENSURE COST EFFECTIVE PARTICIPATION BY EOAS AND TO
OPTIMIZE PARTICIPATION BY CMEOS AND COMMAND LEADERSHIP. USE OF
AVAILABLE GOVERNMENT TRANSPORTATION IS ENCOURAGED TO HELP DEFRAY COSTS.
4. EARLY REGISTRATION FOR THE SYMPOSIUM IS RECOMMENDED. ON-SITE
REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON A LIMITED BASIS. PARTICIPANTS ARE
RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN RESERVATIONS. RECOMMENDED LODGING IS AT THE
HILTON MEMPHIS (SITE OF THE SYMPOSIUM).
