RMKS/1. Per reference (a), nominations are requested for the annual
Department of Defense (DoD) Supply Chain Excellence Award. Reference (b)
provides guidelines for submission. Reference (c) defines the supply chain
processes.
2. Logistics is America's strategic advantage to deter and decisively defeat
our adversaries. New threats to our national security demand that we act at
the speed of relevance to ensure logistics excellence to project and sustain
power. Top performing supply chains align supply operations and business
objectives - delivering warfighting advantage is the Navy's business.
3. The DoD Award for Supply Chain Excellence will recognize the organization
that operates significant components of a supply chain and has demonstrated
innovative management, technological advancements, and exceptional
performance that improved supply chain efficiency and effectiveness
delivering concrete and measurable improvements supporting warfighters during
Fiscal Year 2023 (October 1, 2022 - September 30, 2023). The period of
performance is a change from previous submissions to ensure honorees can be
recognized at the NDIA Logistics Forum in Oklahoma City, OK, on February 8,
2024.
4. Each organization may submit two nominations. Submission requirements:
a. Microsoft Word format;
b. A response for each selection criteria in reference (b);
c. Specific criteria within the supply chain process categories (Plan,
Source, Make, Deliver, Return, etc.) must be addressed;
d. Cover letter signed by a General or Flag Officer in the organization
that
identifies the project, submitting organization, and a single point of
contact (including address, phone number, and e-mail address);
e. Executive summary (1-2 pages) of the award submission is required as
all nominations are customarily posted on the Assistant Secretary of Defense
for Sustainment (ASD (Sustainment)) public website. A sanitized version of
the package is required for posting if the original package is
sensitive/cannot be posted on the ASD (Sustainment) public website.
5. Nominations must be received at the Office of the Deputy Assistant
Secretary of Defense for Logistics (ODASD (Logistics)) by December 1,
2023. Submissions should include either two paper copies or one electronic
copy. Electronic copies should be submitted directly to Ms. Jan Mulligan at
jan.b.mulligan.civ@mail.mil, with a courtesy copy to Alex Weaver,
alexander.r.weaver.ctr@mail.mil (703) 677-3355 and CDR Dave Couchman,
david.p.couchman.mil@us.navy.mil (703) 695-4864.
