RMKS/1. WITH THE UPCOMING 2012 ELECTION JUST A YEAR AWAY, THE PURPOSE OF THIS
NAVADMIN IS TO HEIGHTEN THE AWARENESS OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH THE NAVY'S
COMMAND VOTING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
2. IAW REF A, ALL NAVY COMMANDS WITH 25 OR MORE PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED
PERSONNEL MUST HAVE A VOTING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
CURRENTLY, OF THE 1500 VOTER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (VIMS) ACCOUNTS,
900 ARE NOT CURRENT - THERE IS NO PHONE, EMAIL, OR POINT OF CONTACT
INFORMATION FOR THE COMMAND/UNIT VOTING ASSISTANCE OFFICER (VAO). SPECIFIC
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
(1) DESIGNATION OF A VOTING ASSISTANCE OFFICER IN WRITING
(2) MAINTAINING CURRENT CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE NAVY'S VOTING INFORMATION
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (VIMS).
(3) MAINTAINING ACCURATE CONTACT INFORMATION WHICH IS CRITICAL TO ACHIEVING
MAXIMUM VOTER TURNOUT IN THE UPCOMING 2012 ELECTION.
B. ALL VOTING ASSISTANCE OFFICERS ARE DIRECTED TO LOG INTO VIMS AND VALIDATE
CONTACT INFORMATION AT: HTTPS://QOL.NAVYAIMS.NET/VOTING/ C. NOTE: PARENT
COMMANDS ARE DIRECTED TO VERIFY SUBORDINATE COMMANDS' CONTACT INFORMATION TO
ENSURE MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION. A COMPLETE LIST OF SUBORDINATE / REPORTING
COMMANDS ARE DISPLAYED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE VIMS USER ACCOUNT PAGE.
3. THE RIGHT TO VOTE IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT RIGHTS WE HAVE AS AMERICAN
CITIZENS AND ELECTIONS ARE OUR OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A VOICE IN DETERMINING THE
