APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE BLUE ANGELS.//
RMKS/1. THE UNITED
STATES NAVY FLIGHT DEMONSTRATION SQUADRON (NFDS) (BLUE ANGELS) WILL
SELECT THREE DEMONSTRATION PILOTS (BOTH NAVY AND MARINE CORPS PILOTS
ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY), ONE MAINTENANCE OFFICER, AND ONE SUPPLY
OFFICER FOR THE 2010-2011 SHOW SEASONS; ONE MARINE C-130 DEMONSTRATION
PILOT FOR THE 2010-2012 SHOW SEASONS; AND ONE PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER
FOR THE 2011-2013 SHOW SEASONS. INTERESTED OFFICERS SHOULD SUBMIT
APPLICATIONS PER REF A NOT LATER THAN 30 APRIL 2009.
FINAL SELECTIONS WILL BE MADE IN JULY 2009.
2. QUALIFICATIONS. APPLICANTS SHOULD BE CAREER-ORIENTED, REGULAR NAVY
OR MARINE CORPS OFFICERS WITH THE FOLLOWING SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A. F/A-18 DEMONSTRATION PILOT APPLICANTS MUST BE CARRIER QUALIFIED
TACTICAL JET PILOTS WITH 1,250 HOURS OF TACTICAL JET FLIGHT TIME BY 30
SEPTEMBER OF THE YEAR APPLYING. PREFERABLY, APPLICANTS SHOULD BE JUST
COMPLETING THEIR SEA TOUR OR ON SHORE DUTY FOR LESS THAN 12 MONTHS.
APPLICANTS SHALL CONTACT THEIR DETAILER/MONITOR TO ENSURE ADEQUATE
TIMING TO COMPLETE A TWO OR THREE YEAR TOUR WITHOUT IMPACTING CAREER
MILESTONES.
B. MARINE C-130 DEMONSTRATION PILOT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE 1,200
HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME AND HOLD A PLANE COMMANDER RATING IN THE C-130
F/R/T OR J MODEL AIRCRAFT.
C. MAINTENANCE OFFICER APPLICANTS MUST BE DESIGNATED AVIATION
MAINTENANCE OFFICERS (1520/633X/683X/734X/738X)(LCDR/LT/CWO4) AND BE ON,
OR HAVE COMPLETED, AN OPERATIONAL FLEET TOUR.
D. PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER APPLICANTS MUST BE DESIGNATED AS NAVY OR
MARINE CORPS PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICERS (165X OR USMC MOS 4302).
E. SUPPLY OFFICER APPLICANTS MUST BE DESIGNATED AS NAVAL AVIATION
SUPPLY OFFICERS (651X/310X)(LT) AND BE ON, OR HAVE COMPLETED, AN
OPERATIONAL FLEET TOUR.
3. SELECTEES WILL BE APPROVED BY BUPERS/MMOA PRIOR TO PUBLIC
NOTIFICATION.
USN/USMC PILOTS AND C-130 SELECTEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO REMAIN ON
ACTIVE DUTY FOR TWO YEARS FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF THEIR ASSIGNMENT WITH
THE BLUE ANGELS.

BEING SUBMITTED FROM 2 MARCH 2009 THROUGH 30 APRIL 2009 SHOULD BE SENT
TO COMMANDING OFFICER, NAVY FLIGHT DEMONSTRATION SQUADRON, ATTN: LCDR
BRANTUAS, 390 SAN CARLOS ROAD, SUITE A, PENSACOLA, FL 32508-5508 VIA
CURRENT COMMANDING OFFICER. NAVY PERSONNEL SHOULD SUBMIT A COPY OF THE
APPLICATION TO THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITY DETAILER AT NPC. MARINE
CORPS APPLICANTS SHALL SUBMIT A COPY OF THEIR APPLICATION TO
HEADQUARTERS MARINE CORPS (MMOA-2) AND CONTACT THEIR RESPECTIVE
COMMUNITY MONITOR.
